What is the MN Century Program?

The program is the result of The Rural Career and Technical Education Consortium Grant that was awarded to 38 northwestern Minnesota school districts in 2020. The funding was used to purchase 38 computer numerically controlled (CNC) routers, laptops for the  CNC routers. In addition, funding continues to support instructor training and professional development for computer-aided drafting (CAD) and design software.

The students have enthusiastically begun learning valuable skills that will provide them with a head start in CNC and CAD mastery in the workforce. There are many creative projects that the students have completed, and new projects are being produced every day. Some have been shared with us! Check out the projects!

About 60 different students worked on this year’s Blackduck Building Trades school house doing everything from the mudding, taping and painting to building all the cabinets. Dean Baggenstoss helped us with the plumbing while Bessler Electric with the electrical. Thanks to Northwoods lumber for helping us with the materials and contributing to the Blackduck Building Trades Scholarship that helps Blackduck students going to a trade school.

Trades and Industry Workshop

On April 17 an event hosted by the North Country Cooperative Center and Pine to Prairie Co-op and funded by the Minnesota Service Cooperative CTE grant was held in Bemidji, Minnesota. Teachers, vendors and administrators participated in the event which promoted networking and professional development. New ideas for curriculums, safety protocols and innovative industrial developments were key topics during the event.
The importance of workshops like this is to prepare students to be career ready after high school graduation!

Did you know? A pulse welder alternates between high and low voltage compared to a continuous current welder. It has more control than a continuous current welder and produces a high quality weld.

The Drafting Curriculum and AutoCAD Curriculum are now available online.
